Jerry Pientka, Principal
Mr. Pientka has led the development efforts on more than $3B of real estate projects in most major markets across the United States, Canada, and western / central Europe.
Presently, he is the Principal / Owner of Highwood Development LLC and is a partner working with (i) Highfield Investment Group, owner of the 1,200-acre High Plains Industrial Park located in Calgary, Alberta Canada and (ii) Union Pacific Acquisitions, principal owner of a 1,000-acre Union Pacific rail-served Park located 20 miles from the highway nexus of I-80 / I-55 in Coal City, Illinois. Mr. Pientka is responsible for managing the marketing, leasing, and development efforts for both build-to-suit and speculative development projects in the Parks including (i) park master planning, (ii) working on lease proposals, (iii) negotiating lease agreements, (iv) managing the design process, permitting, and general contractor on the pricing and construction of the building, and (v) working with the owners on all project capital requirements.
Prior to Highwood Development, Mr. Pientka served as Principal, National Head of Development for Exeter Property Group responsible for sourcing land development opportunities and for procuring build-to-suit transactions in the U.S. Prior to Exeter, he served as Executive Vice President at First Industrial Realty Trust, where he was responsible for planning and executing the firm’s land and building development program, with a particular focus on major logistic hubs in the U.S., Canada and Europe. Prior to First Industrial, Mr. Pientka served as the President of Higgins Development Partners, where he worked for 20 years, initially in development project management roles and ultimately led the company through a major expansion throughout North America resulting in over $1 billion of land and building developments.
Mr. Pientka earned a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
